Thee renowned Chinese writer Lu Xun articulated a profound idea that continues to resonate through the corridors of modern Chinese literature and even within my family.

This is why I am named Ayumi, which means 'step' in Japanese. This name embodies a hope that every step taken in life is fuelled with intention rather than ignorance, that one day it will leave a trail of exploration and lead us somewhere new.

Having worked as a solo founding designer and in mature cross-functional teams, I take a facilitative approach to advocating the design thinking process with my colleagues, often hosting participatory workshops to foster an ecosystem where helping others is the norm.

My goal is to make knowledge accessible by facilitating the transfer of expertise and information through thoughtfully designed applications.

From co-creating a healthcare community at IDEO to establishing an augmented analytics startup, I have designed digital products and services that help people do their best work over the last 4 years in Hong Kong.

Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Human-Computer Interaction at Carnegie Mellon University with a focus on designing AI-infused products for everyday experiences.
